2016 MULWALA CLASSIC INVITATIONAL
THE RULES
The Mulwala Classic Invitational is a fishing competition for Murray Cod, and is held annually at Lake Mulwala.
The Mulwala Classic Invitational forms part of the Fishing Event Management Program Database, a NSW Department of Primary Industries program.
The Champion Angler Trophy is awarded for the greatest aggregate weight of Murray Cod (excluding biggest Murray Cod). Weights are estimated from length measurements, using the length/weight conversion table supplied by NSW Fisheries. Undersize cod are included in the total, but are all given a weight of 1kg.
RULES
- All Murray Cod must be measured and photographed in full on the provided measuring board which displays your team identification number. Photographs must be clear and readable, displaying the entire fish and relative measurement. Take multiple photos if required.
- All native fish must be released uninjured as soon as possible. Deceased fish will not count.
- Each Cod or Perch caught must be measured (total length) and recorded on the angler’s Catch-and-Release Card to the millimetre. Another competing angler must witness the measurement and release, and sign the data record for each fish.
- A single rod may be used with lure or fly only.
- All anglers must complete and hand in a catch card including those anglers that do not catch any fish.
- Fishing may only be conducted in the backed-up waters of Lake Mulwala. This excludes the area downstream of the Mulwala Canal Bridge.
- Fishing begins at 8.00am each day and finishes at 5:00pm on Friday and Saturday. Cards are to be handed in by 6:00pm Saturday.
- Competing boats are required to have a current boat insurance policy.
- A NSW Fishing Licence is required for fishing the waters of Lake Mulwala.
- All boats must conform to requirements of the NSW Maritime regulations.
- The Organising Committee is the sole authority determining all aspects of the entry, conduct and results of the Mulwala Classic Invitational.
PROCEDURES
- Anglers are required to show photographed evidence of fish captures according to the rules when asked to do so.
- In the event of a tie, a count back will be used to determine the winner.
- If no entries are received in a category, all participants’ names will be entered in a draw to decide the prize-winner.
- Yarrawonga Holiday Park rules apply and will be fully supported by the Organising Committee.
- The biggest Murray Cod is only eligible for the Biggest Cod Prize and does not count in the Champion Angler section.
- The Committee has the right to enquire into any matter concerning the Mulwala Classic Invitational and to make any decision it considers appropriate including disqualification.
- The Mulwala Classic Incorporated Association takes no responsibility for personal injury or loss or damage of property. All competitors enter entirely at their own risk.

This event is only for entrants that fished the Mulwala Classic and your entry is free. The Da$h for Ca$h is designed to add excitement and fun to your fishing competition experience and involves bonus points and cash prizes. You will not only be competing against each other but also against the clock. Luck will play a big part as well. The Lowrance Da$h for Ca$h is a team event with the combined score of each teams two highest scoring live healthy cod deciding the winners. The event will start at 8:00am Sunday morning with an official “Start Fishing” signal, upon which boats can leave the starting area to start fishing. No one is to leave the starting area before the signal. As bonus points are awarded in relation to fishing time and length of fish, the sooner you return with your catch to the starting area, the more bonus points you will score relative to the length of your fish. Bonus points will be allocated as follows:
- Return within 20mins (before 8:20am) and receive a 35% bonus.
- Return within 40mins (before 8:40am) and receive a 30% bonus.
- Return within 60mins (before 9:00am) and receive a 25% bonus.
- Return within 80mins (before 9:20am) and receive a 20% bonus.
- Return within 100mins (before 9:40am) and receive a 15% bonus.
- Return within 120mins (before 10:00am) and receive a 10% bonus.
- Return within 140mins (before 10:20am) and receive a 5% bonus.
- Return after 10:20am (before 11:00am) and no bonus applies.
- Last entry 11:05am (after 11:00am) with 5% penalty.
Late fish will still be eligible until 11:05am, but a 5% penalty will apply after 11:00am. You can return to fishing after entering one or both fish in order to “High-grade”, but only the two highest scoring cod from each team will count.
The Lowrance Australia Da$h for Ca$h FISHING RULES
- Two anglers only per team. Team members must fish in the same boat.
- The target species is Murray Cod that are 55cm (the legal length) or larger.
- No bait allowed. One rod per angler with a lure of fly only.
- Fishing starts 8:00am and finishes at 11:00am. All boats must leave together after the “Start Fishing” signal and NOT BEFORE.
- Fish that are above the legal length of 55cm must be photographed using the supplied measuring boards and released alive immediately. The photograph must then be returned to the check in location for verification by 11:05am at the latest.
- Only fish caught within the designated time (8:00am – 11:00am) will be counted.
- Teams may enter any number of Murray Cod within the designated fishing time. Only the two highest point scoring fish from each team will be used to calculate aggregate point score.
- Any deceased fish are ineligible.
- Aggregate point scores will decide 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.
- Fish will be measured in length back to the nearest centimetre (not weighed).
- Bonus points will be awarded according to the Points Chart. Penalty points will apply after 11:00am up until 11:05am. After this time no photo will be accepted.
- In the event of a tied score, the team that return their final point scoring photo first will be the winner.
- The Lowrance Da$h for Ca$h organisers have the final say in any disputed matters. Any concerns must be raised before the presentation. No further action will be taken after the Presentation has occurred.
- All anglers fish at their own risk and discretion.
- The Mulwala Classic accepts no responsibility for any damage or personal injury resulting from your competing in this Da$h for Ca$h event.
